POSITION TITLE: Clinical Detention Officer / Mental Health Clinician – Juvenile Division
Full-Time – Monday through Friday

RESPONSIBLE TO: Chief Psychologist – River Valley Psychological Services;
Superintendent – River
Valley Detention Center; & Director of Court Services – Will County Court Services

RESPONSIBLE FOR: Providing clinical services to court-involved youth and their families for the Twelfth Judicial Circuit Court and other applicable counties;
Completing facility mental health intakes and providing clinical interventions for detained youth (e.g., crisis management; brief, solution-focused therapy, making referrals for psychiatric evaluation, etc.) as needed;
Maintaining a fluctuating caseload of detained youth and providing individual, family, and/or group therapy services as applicable;
Assessing and monitoring youth on crisis watch statuses (e.g., suicide watch, close observation, segregation, etc.);
Participating in an on-call rotation for after-hours crisis management (evenings, weekends, and holidays);
Assisting in case management of detained youth (e.g. monitoring court orders; assigning cases to clinical staff members, etc.);
Providing consultation and/or testimony in juvenile court proceedings if/when necessary;
Serving as a case manager/liaison to court-involved youth and their families in locating, arranging, and providing linkage to treatment services that are outside the scope of the clinical and non-clinical services provided at RVDC (e.g. specialized psychotherapeutic providers / services, specialized assessments and/or diagnostic services, etc.); and finally, Providing additional clinical & non-clinical duties as assigned and deemed necessary to assist the mental health department (e.g. attending court proceedings to observe outcomes for detained youth, administrative tasks, special projects, etc.).

MINIMUM

QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, or social work;
Active clinical license in good standing (e.g., LPC, LSW, LCPC, LCSW) in the State

of Illinois OR license-eligible within 1 year of hire; experience & familiarity working

with juveniles & their families; and finally, experience working with the court system

and/or the juvenile justice system is a plus.

KNOWLEDGE,

SKILLS, & ABILITIES: Strong communication skills, including the ability to effectively convey information and opinions through written records and oral testimony;
Cultural competence, including an awareness of how experiences, beliefs and values of diverse individuals and groups affect clinical forensic interactions and practice;
Knowledge of ethical and best practice standards for the practice of clinical and forensic psychology;
Ability to work cooperatively in an interdisciplinary setting; & Fluency in Spanish, sign languageor other non-English languages is a plus.

SALARY: $55,000 (Minimum Compensation) - $86,625 (Maximum Compensation) Salary considerations dependent on experience
