As a Patient Access Specialist, you will be one of the first points of contact for patients. You will help ensure patients are checked in accurately, insurance information is verified, and visitors are directed to the appropriate department.

Job Duties:

• Greet patients and visitors in a friendly, professional manner

• Check patients in and direct them to the appropriate department

• Verify insurance information and eligibility

• Answer incoming phone calls and assist with questions or direct calls appropriately

• Enter patient and insurance information accurately into the computer system

• Maintain accurate patient registration and demographic information

• Provide compassionate and respectful customer service

• Follow established procedures for patient registration and insurance verification

• Handle changing priorities and varying workloads throughout the day

Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of health insurance and insurance verification

• Previous healthcare, medical office, patient registration, receptionist, or customer service experience is helpful

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy

• Accurate data entry and computer skills

• Kind, compassionate, and professional communication style

• Ability to remain calm and focused in a high-stress environment

• Flexible and able to 'go with the flow' when priorities change

• Comfortable working independently when the department is slower and staying productive during busy periods

• Dependable and professional

This position is part of a 24-hour department, so candidates should be comfortable with a healthcare environment where workload and patient volume can vary. The successful candidate will be someone who can remain patient, professional, and adaptable throughout the shift.
