JOB GOAL
The BCBA will provide support to individuals and their families by coordinating and providing services in Applied Behavior Analysis, function analyses and assessment, behavior acquisition and reduction procedures, and adaptive life skills. A BCBA will also oversee the programming of RBT's BT's and field students and provide ongoing support and supervision to Direct Support Professionals as it relates to the implementation and documentation associated with Behavior Support Plans.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Function in a supervisory capacity and provide oversight to all areas of programming including the training of direct support professionals and supervision of, RBTs, BTs and fieldwork students, and person-centered strategies BT trainers.
- Assist in the development, facilitation, and follow-up training in Applied Behavior Analysis, using both discrete trial training and natural environment training models of teaching.
- Facilitate and assist in the development and identification of resources and support information for clients and their families
- Provide model teaching and other direct instructional supports including but not limited to practicum supervision/teaching, class instruction, and in-service instruction to other support professionals.
- Assist in the development and implementation of assessment tools, conduct functional assessments and analyses when appropriate, and develop appropriate behavior strategies to teach appropriate behavior and reduce maladaptive behaviors
- Provide ongoing support and training to direct support professionals, ABA implementers, and other individuals in support roles for families. Ongoing training and supervision of paraprofessional staff in the implementation of ABA principles and methodology and behavior reduction strategies.
- Create an ongoing data collection system to establish baseline and programmatic efficacy for all consumers, and to analyze data on a frequent and ongoing basis to guide programming.
- Develop behavior plans for all consumers with a focus on teaching and other antecedent strategies for reducing problematic behavior(s).
- Meet as needed with supervised staff to discuss ongoing consumer issues and to provide support regularly.
- Complete the treatment integrity checklist monthly with all assigned RBT's/BT'/Students.
- Review and sign off on behavior plans.
- Provide field supervision when necessary, as assigned by the clinic director.
- Conduct monthly parent training for all clients as per clinical recommendation.
- Review, provide feedback on, and release all notes for any supervised behavior therapist.
- Provide consultation services and to maintain collaborations with other disciplines for the benefit of the client.
- Keep current with the literature, new research findings and resources. In addition, continuing education courses to maintain BCBA certification are necessary (32 credits every 2 years).
- Maintain all data, paperwork, and communication between personal care staff and families, and to provide ongoing feedback to government-related agencies that contract with such families. To provide monthly progress reports to such regulated agencies.
- Must be able to cover direct sessions.
- Minimum billable 25 hours per week.
- Minimum of 1 hour of parent training per month
- 1 competency per RBT/BT per month
- Must maintain a 5% supervision RBT's
- Maintain 20% supervision of the client caseload per month.
- Must have patience and ability to work with young children.
- Attend regular scheduled meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Psychology, Education, or another related human services field.
- Ability to demonstrate competency in behavior management, instructional strategies, oral and written communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with clients of varying ages, skill levels, and support needs with minimal supervision.
- Must hold and maintain current Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification,
CPR Certification
, and Mandated Reporter Training
. - Familiarity with Discrete Trial Training (DTT) programming and implementation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other standard office software.
- Ability to effectively utilize office equipment, including telephones, printers, scanners, fax machines, and other technology necessary to perform job duties.
- Ability to respond promptly and professionally to phone calls, emails, and other communications.
- Current on all required trainings and certifications.
- Valid driver's license with current automobile insurance on file with the Human Resources Department.
- Reliable, insured transportation registered in the State of Illinois.
- Availability to work Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, or additional hours as needed to meet client, operational, or business needs.
