Position: Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) - Dekalb, IL

Job Description

Make a direct impact in the lives of young learners by supporting early childhood and kindergarten students in a welcoming and collaborative school environment. This contract opportunity runs from August 10th to November 3rd, covering a maternity leave, and offers the chance to advance your skills while making a lasting difference during a pivotal stage in students’ development.

You’ll work approximately 32.5 hours per week (8:30am-3:30pm), providing speech-language pathology services to a caseload of around 35 children identified with disabilities such as Developmental Delay (DD), Specific Learning Disability (SLD), Other Health Impairment (OHI), and Speech or Language Impairment (SLI). Your expertise and compassion will help these students develop communication skills essential for academic and social success.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Professional Educator License (PEL) with Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) credential
  • Experience delivering services in school or pediatric settings, ideally at the early childhood and kindergarten level
  • Strong collaboration skills with educators, support staff, and families
  • Effective communication abilities to tailor interventions and document progress
  • Comfort with virtual interviews and adaptability to diverse learning needs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct speech and language assessments for preschool and kindergarten students
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals and targeted interventions
  • Provide direct therapy, consultation, and support within classroom and small group settings
  • Document student progress and maintain compliance with required paperwork
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, families, and other professionals to foster student growth
