Position SummaryThe Governance Task Force Lead is responsible for establishing, coordinating, and driving cross-functional governance initiatives that improve execution, accountability, risk visibility, and decision-making across strategic programs. This role combines governance leadership with strong IT program management capabilities, ensuring initiatives are structured, tracked, escalated appropriately, and delivered in alignment with organizational priorities.
The ideal candidate is a highly organized leader with experience managing complex programs, facilitating executive governance forums, and driving action across business and technology stakeholders. This person brings structure to ambiguity, creates transparency through reporting and controls, and helps teams move from discussion to decision to execution.
Key Responsibilities- Lead governance task force activities for strategic, enterprise, or technology-related initiatives.
- Establish governance frameworks, operating rhythms, decision forums, escalation paths, and accountability models.
- Drive planning, coordination, and execution across multiple work streams, stakeholders, and dependent teams.
- Apply strong IT program management practices, including milestone tracking, RAID management, status reporting, issue resolution, and dependency management.
- Prepare executive-ready materials for steering committees, governance reviews, and leadership updates.
- Facilitate meetings with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to drive decisions, remove blockers, and maintain momentum.
- Monitor program health, risks, compliance requirements, and delivery performance against established objectives.
- Partner with business, operations, compliance, risk, security, and technology teams to ensure alignment and execution discipline.
- Define and maintain governance metrics, dashboards, and reporting to provide visibility into outcomes and areas needing intervention.
- Support policy, process, and control development where governance maturity or standardization is needed.
- Ensure action items, decisions, and follow-ups are documented and completed on time.
- Recommend process improvements that strengthen governance effectiveness, accountability, and delivery consistency.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, information technology, healthcare administration, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in program management, PMO, governance, or strategic initiative leadership.
- Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional initiatives in an IT or business transformation environment.
- Strong knowledge of program management disciplines, including planning, risk management, dependency management, and executive reporting.
- Experience building governance routines, steering structures, and decision-making frameworks.
- Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to influence without direct authority and drive outcomes across matrixed organizations.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel, and program management/reporting tools.
- Experience in healthcare, regulated industries, or large enterprise environments.
- PMP, PgMP, Scrum, Lean, or other relevant certifications.
- Experience supporting executive committees, compliance-driven programs, or enterprise transformation efforts.
