The Railroad Retirement Board is hiring a GS-14 Enterprise Data Architect.

NOTE: The selected candidate may work at our HQ in Chicago, or in any of our district office locations. Please see the job announcement on USAJOBS.GOV for the list of locations. In addition, the salary range indicated in the job announcement will be adjusted to include locality payment once a candidate is selected.

As an Enterprise Data Architect, you will:

  • Be responsible for defining and executing the agency's enterprise data strategy, establishing the target-state data architecture, and driving the transformation of the RRB's data ecosystem from legacy systems to modern, interoperable platforms.
  • Define, communicate, and maintain the agency's enterprise data strategy and target-state data architecture, ensuring alignment with the RRB's strategic plan, enterprise architecture, and Federal data mandates.
  • Advise the agency's data governance program, ensuring data is treated as a strategic enterprise asset with clear accountability, quality standards, and lifecycle management.
  • Lead the strategic planning and architectural design of data modernization initiatives, directing the migration of disparate legacy data silos into integrated, modern enterprise data platforms.
  • Serve as the agency's foremost authority on data modeling concepts, principles, and methodologies, providing architectural direction and design standards for the evolution of enterprise data structures.
  • Provide strategic thought leadership and expert technical guidance on data management to all levels of the organization, building data literacy and a culture of data-driven decision‑making.
  • Establish and maintain enterprise‑level change management and configuration control programs governing all data architecture and data structure changes across the agency.
Minimum Qualifications for GS‑14 level:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS‑13 grade level in the Federal service.

Specialized experience is:

  • Developing enterprise data strategies and target‑state architectures.
  • Directing the migration of legacy data silos into modern enterprise platforms.
  • Providing data management and data governance expert technical guidance to senior leadership.
