Position Overview
The Consulting Managed Services Solution Architect (CMSA) is a field‑based technical pre‑sales role focused on developing comprehensive security solutions for CDW customers. The role involves consultative guidance, partner product sales support, scoping service offerings, and fostering strategic relationships to drive Managed Services business growth.
Responsibilities- Develop assessment and service solutions for customers, including analysis, technical scoping, and support for managed services offerings.
- Collaborate with customers, delivery teams, and internal sales to offer consultative guidance, plan sales strategy, and provide quotations and technical responses for RFPs, RFQs, RFIs, standard proposals, and statements of work (SOWs).
- Cost, scope, and price managed services opportunities by gathering customer metrics to meet business goals.
- Analyze technical and competitive considerations to uncover customer long‑term goals, craft solutions, and meet expectations in the sales cycle.
- Maintain strategic relationships with customers, internal sales, and delivery management as a trusted advisor to drive business growth.
- Grow influence in the assigned territory or client base through high engagement with partners, customers, and sales, being recognized as a subject‑matter expert.
- Operate at a senior level or better for 80% of managed services offerings.
- Act as a subject‑matter expert across multiple product families and complex managed services offerings.
- Assist and monitor many opportunities of varying complexity and collaborate with resource coordinators to deploy the right technical and services resources.
- Collaborate with technical delivery groups to review and compile technical analyses and financial data for new or revised offerings.
- Drive outreach initiatives, technical enablement projects, coaching, and mentoring for other MSAs, Sales Solutions Executives, and Field Sellers.
- Acquire and maintain relevant technology and industry certifications as required.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time, or as business needs dictate.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience plus 8years in technical, pre‑sales, or post‑sale delivery roles (or 12years).
- Self‑motivated, proactive professional capable of delivering high‑quality work independently with strong ownership and minimal direction.
- Deep industry knowledge and domain expertise with awareness of market trends, regulatory requirements, and best practices for Managed Services.
- Comprehensive knowledge of enterprise architecture, company solutions, and technologies to position and tailor recommendations for clients.
- Proven success collaborating across Sales, Product, and Delivery to align solutions and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical discussions, influence architectural decisions, and mentor junior team members.
- Strong customer engagement and relationship management skills; ability to articulate needs, present complex concepts clearly, and develop trusted advisor relationships.
- Skill in translating business challenges into strategic technology solutions delivering measurable value.
- Exceptional solution design, problem‑solving, and communication skills with a record of scalable, secure, and cost‑effective architectures.
- Ability to analyze complex business problems, identify innovative solutions, and build consensus among stakeholders.
- Areas of technical expertise:
Networking (Cisco, Aruba, SD‑WAN);
Cybersecurity (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Exabeam, Microsoft Security, Crowd Strike);
Cloud & Infrastructure (Microsoft Azure, Converged/Hyperconverged Systems, Storage, Endpoint Management). - Familiarity with system patching and endpoint management is a plus.
Pay range: $121,450–$170,018 depending on experience and skill set. Annual bonus target of 25% subject to terms and conditions. Benefits overview:
