OVERVIEW
Cadrex is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented U.S. Trade Compliance Specialist to support the company's import and export compliance programs across its U.S. operations. This individual will help ensure compliance with all applicable U.S. trade regulations, including EAR, U.S. Customs regulations, OFAC sanctions programs, and other government agency requirements. The ideal candidate will partner closely with operations, supply chain, procurement, logistics, engineering, sales, and customer service teams to facilitate compliant international trade activities while supporting business objectives.

DescriptionCadrex is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented U.S. Trade Compliance Specialist to support the company's import and export compliance programs across its U.S. operations. This individual will help ensure compliance with all applicable U.S. trade regulations, including EAR, U.S. Customs regulations, OFAC sanctions programs, and other government agency requirements. The ideal candidate will partner closely with operations, supply chain, procurement, logistics, engineering, sales, and customer service teams to facilitate compliant international trade activities while supporting business objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Support export and import compliance activities across multiple manufacturing locations.
- Classify products, raw materials, technology, and technical data under the HTSUS, and EAR.
- Review shipments and transactions for licensing, exemptions, and documentation requirements.
- Conduct restricted party screening and sanctions reviews.
- Maintain HTS classifications, origin determinations, and customs records.
- Collaborate with customs brokers and freight forwarders.
- Support internal assessments, investigations, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist border consolidation and export operations as needed.
- Monitor regulatory changes and communicate business impacts.
- Other duties as assigned commensurate with the responsibilities of the position.
- 3-5 years of experience in U.S. trade compliance and import customs operations.
- Significant experience with free trade agreements, tariff classification, and valuation principles.
- Ability to manage projects in the trade space, e.g., FTZ feasibility, strategic sourcing/ landed cost support, origin and tariff engineering.
- General understanding of manufacturing operations with the ability to work across multiple disciplines.
- Demonstrated experience in managing self‑assessments, entry data reviews, and entry correction procedures.
- Solid working knowledge of the HTSUS, EAR, and U.S. Customs and Trade regulations.
- Ability to create financial analyses, including spends, forecasts, trends, and what‑if scenarios.
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to interpret complex regulations and easily communicate their impact to the business.
- Deep analytical capabilities with prioritization skills.
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analyses abilities with the capacity to develop corrective measures.
- Solid business acumen with the confidence to be self‑directed.
- Ability to communicate effectively across multiple organizational levels.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Licensed Customs Broker or Certified Customs Specialist.
- Solid knowledge of Mexico customs and trade operations.
- Experience supporting IMMEX/maquila operations.
- Bilingual Spanish/English
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, International Trade, Logistics, Law, or related field, or equivalent experience in import/export operations.
- Remote, 10-15% travel
