Directs and oversees the overall operations and site management of the Distribution Centers (DCs). Negotiates and administers collective bargaining agreements. Implements and ensures that procedures are followed to provide a safe, efficient, service-oriented, and profitable department. This strategic leadership role requires experience leading union hourly employees. You will be overseeing our Bensenville and new semi-automated Aurora location. The Aurora facility is the first in US Foods with automation, so having experience transitioning a team into automation or the desire to lead through automation is highly preferred.
Responsibilities- Site leadership and management for DCs, with hard line reporting to RVP Operations and dotted line reporting to Area President; oversee standalone locations (Area hubs) with 1-3 DCs per Area.
- Plan and Direct:
Establish long-term operations objectives aligned with business goals; develop and execute strategic plans for the operations department; integrate shipping, receiving, transportation, purchasing, and sales activities to achieve company goals. - Profitable Operations:
Organize and control operations to align with business goals; maintain profitability by controlling inventory, losses, safety, and related processes; identify synergies and pursue best practices to improve productivity and customer service. - Safety and Compliance:
Guide operations management in compliance with government and regulatory guidelines; implement programs to ensure safety, security, maintenance, and ergonomics for operations functions. - Personnel and Policy:
Delegate responsibilities to managers; enforce DC/company policies on safety and employee discipline; communicate changes to the workforce; oversee performance of day warehouse associates; create performance improvement plans and identify training opportunities. - Networking:
Participate in the Operations knowledge center, industry organizations, and other networking opportunities to share best practices. - Automation:
Lead in a DC with semi-automation; experience transitioning teams to automation is highly valued. - Union Facilities (where applicable):
Negotiate terms of collective bargaining agreements. - Other duties as assigned by manager.
- 4-year degree preferred, or High School Diploma (or GED) with equivalent experience.
- 10 years of operations experience across various distribution management functions; minimum 5 years of management experience.
- D.O.T. regulations, Labor Relations, recruiting and interviewing, customer service, budgeting and cost control, knowledge of OSHA, HACCP and other regulations, PC skills.
Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law (for example: state minimum wage thresholds). The expected base rate for this role is between $130,000 - $215,000.
