Job SummaryProvide day-to-day work direction and supervise to maintain steady workflow and productivity in maintenance and custodial services. Ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and safety concerns are addressed. Inspect facilities for needed repairs and train staff on proper use of custodial machines, tools, and equipment. Supervise contractual groundskeeping, exterminating, trash removal, recycling, and snow removal. Maintain safety data reports required by Illinois Right to Know laws and OSHA regulations.
Remain available 24/7, including weekends and holidays.
- This position is considered a safety-sensitive position. Candidates must pass a required drug test as part of the pre-employment background check.
- Applicants who are contacted will be required to produce original documents (e.g., current driver’s license, diploma, transcript, certifications) within five days of being extended an offer.
- Degrees awarded outside the United States (excluding U.S. territories and Canada) must be credentialed by WES, ECE, or a NACES member organization.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree or higher.
- Four (4) years of janitorial or maintenance, or directly related experience.
- Two (2) years of prior supervisory or lead experience.
- Valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and coordinate projects promptly with attention to detail.
- Ability to act professionally and impartially in difficult situations with tact and diplomacy.
- Physical capability to perform tasks requiring walking, standing, lifting, pulling, pushing, and moving moderate to heavy weight.
- Ability to enable a collaborative culture and provide day-to-day direction of tasks.
- Ability to handle escalated or highly complex work similar to the work performed by staff supervised.
- Ability to delegate tasks effectively and collaborate with leadership to achieve organizational success.
- Ability to align team tasks with departmental procedures and objectives and serve as a reliable resource for other employees in a relevant area of expertise.
Heavy work involves exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
Veteran’s PreferencePreference is given to honorably discharged veterans who served more than 180 consecutive days or during wartime.
