Job Details

The Director of Operations Primary Care & Ambulatory Physician Practices - JMG oversees the operational activities across multiple ambulatory practices within the Jefferson Medical Group (JMG). The director is simultaneously overseeing several projects, clinical initiatives, and supporting the fiscal year operating plan. The Director is an experienced operational leader who is responsible for leading and coordinating transformational local Jefferson strategies and initiatives aligned with enterprise and regional operational improvements.

The Director assists the senior executives with the implementation and execution of the annual operating plan and budget while serving as both a resource and leader to achieve best practice results in key performance indicators. The Director acts as an internal consultant, responding quickly to direction from the senior executives to assess operations, identify best practices, and redesign work systems and processes to achieve higher levels of performance.

The Director of Operations also supports the acquisition and onboarding of new practices, specialties and clinicians that work within the ambulatory as well as the hospital setting.

Essential Functions
  • Oversee execution of operating plan projects and strategic initiatives to achieve regional/divisional goals.
  • Works directly with VP on Operational Excellence initiatives.
  • Project Excellence/Leadership includes identifying opportunities; defining and financially justifying projects/programs; allocating resources; launching project teams; utilizing project management and leadership principles to manage team activities; tracking project status and results; anticipating and removing barriers; developing team members.
  • Leads and supports operational improvement efforts to drive operational efficiency and clinical programmatic growth.
  • Increase Scheduled and Arrived Utilization for all Providers (above 100% scheduled and 90% arrived).
  • Improve Interdepartmental Scheduling scores (above 70%) Planning, managing, evaluating, and controlling the financial performance and standards of excellence to maintain high quality services to achieve both the divisional and regional goals and objectives set forth.
  • Provide financial projections for new provider requests and expansion of clinical services.
  • Explain variances to budget for MTD, YTD, and Prior Year.
  • Responsible for the implementation of various projects in collaboration with senior executives to ensure efficiency and quality performance indicators are met.
  • Providing leadership for the development of strategies while ensuring the successful implementation of tactical elements of improved patient satisfaction, enhanced quality of care, strengthen the revenue cycle, and increase operational effectiveness.
  • Plan, develop and execute strategic and comprehensive business development and marketing initiatives to support the objectives and goals, with specific focus on revenue enhancement, and additional market share growth through strategic relationships.
  • Collaborates with Business Development, Finance, and Marketing, to develop and implement these growth initiatives, as needed.
  • Works with Providers on Care Continuity & Ambulatory Referrals.
  • Selects, develops, manages and evaluates direct reports; oversees the selection, development, management and evaluation of indirect reports.
  • Assures that patient care objectives are met.
  • Through collaboration, develops, allocates, and administers the budget as necessary for accomplishment of established objectives and programs.
  • Is responsible for the department's mission statement, strategic plans, resource allocation and operational plans and policies.
  • Ensures that all Federal, State, local and accreditation standards are met and maintained.
  • Promotes and maintains own professional development.
Education & Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
  • High School Diploma/GED with an additional 4 years of operations leadership experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • 5 years progressive experience in ambulatory operations leadership and management.
