Manufacturing Engineer – Advanced CNC Programming & Process Development
Starting Salary: $120,000 – $125,000 per year
Schedule: Flexible Hours
Tek Pro is partnered with one of the top precision machining companies in Chicagoland in their search for an experienced CAD/CAM Engineer! We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer with strong CNC programming expertise to support complex aerospace, hydraulic, automotive, and high-performance machined components.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a highly technical manufacturing environment and enjoys owning the machining process from concept through production launch. The position will focus heavily on advanced 4-axis and simultaneous 5-axis machining, process development, work holding design, CAM programming, and shop floor support.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and optimize advanced machining processes for complex precision components
- Design and implement custom work holding solutions for challenging applications
- Create, simulate, and refine CNC programs using Mastercam
- Support production launches from initial setup through process validation
- Collaborate closely with Quality and Production teams to establish inspection methods and ensure process capability
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and process-related issues on the shop floor
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to cycle time, tooling performance, quality, and throughput
- Evaluate and apply modern cutting tool and tool holding technologies
- Extensive experience with simultaneous 5-axis CNC milling programming using Mastercam
- Strong background designing complex work holding and fixturing solutions
- Deep knowledge of modern cutting tools, tool holding systems, feeds/speeds, and machining strategy
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T requirements
- Experience machining hardened metals and difficult materials
- Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills
- Experience supporting new product introduction and process launch activities
- Solid Works or equivalent CAD software experience preferred
- Mill/Turn experience is a plus
- Proven track record in high-precision machining environments required
