Role DescriptionThis full-time 2nd shift Mitsubishi 40" 6/color press operator role is an on-site position located in the Greater Chicago Area. The press operator will set up, operate, and monitor the Mitsubishi 40" 6/color press, including make-ready, ink and water balance adjustments, plate changes, and registration. Daily responsibilities include reviewing job tickets, preparing materials, running proofs, maintaining color consistency, and ensuring that all printed work meets established quality standards.
The role involves performing routine maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs on the press to reduce downtime and extend equipment life. The press operator will also collaborate closely with pre-press, finishing, and production teams to meet schedules, troubleshoot issues, and maintain a safe, organized work area.
- Proficiency in Machine Operation for sheetfed offset presses, including setup, adjustment, and safe use of a Mitsubishi 40" 6/color or similar press.
- Strong Quality Control skills, including visual inspection, color matching, and adherence to print specifications and customer standards.
- Hands-on experience in Printing production environments, with knowledge of inks, paper stocks, coatings, and pressroom workflows.
- Ability to Troubleshoot press issues, identify root causes, and make timely adjustments to minimize waste and downtime.
- Familiarity with Pre-press processes, including plates, imposition, and understanding of how files translate to press.
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and ability to follow written job tickets and production instructions.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift materials as needed, and work safely around industrial equipment.
- Previous experience as a press operator or assistant press operator in a commercial print environment is strongly preferred; technical or vocational training in printing is a plus.
