Job SummaryThe Sanitation Technician I will safely operate and clean equipment, handle chemicals to sanitize production equipment and clean the production area, and follow Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP). The role may include minor disassembly and assembly of equipment to facilitate cleaning, and requires ensuring plant sanitary conditions meet food safety and quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Disassemble, clean, and sanitize production machinery, equipment, tables, bins, pans, utensils, and other items in the production process using high‑pressure water hoses and other tools.
- Clean and sanitize all floors, walls, ceilings, structures, drains, vents, evaporators, light fixtures, etc. in production and support areas.
- Ensure proper care of equipment during cleaning, including covering control boxes and critical components to prevent water infiltration and safely transporting and storing equipment.
- Follow all safety guidelines: chemical safety, lockout/tagout, SSOP, report unsafe conditions, and immediately report any near miss, injury, or accident to the Team Leader or Manager.
- Follow All Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Sanitation Practices (GSP) as outlined by Ajinomoto Windsor.
- Handle equipment and chemicals in accordance with company, government, and safety data sheet guidelines.
- Assist with other sanitation work as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in sanitation procedures in a food manufacturing plant is helpful.
- Good English communication skills (reading, writing, and verbal).
- Willingness to work as part of a team, self‑motivated, and able to work with little or no supervision.
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is regularly required to move about on foot, bend frequently, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, talk or hear, and lift or move up to 50 pounds. The employee will be working in temperatures ranging from freezing to sub‑freezing (coolers, freezers, etc.).
