Material Handler
This role supports the production department by safely moving pumps and related materials throughout the plant to complete assembly and testing processes. You will operate a sit-down forklift and overhead crane to transport products between workstations, support basic test setup using hand and power tools, and assist in the warehouse as needed. This position works on 1st shift and requires a flexible, team-oriented individual who takes initiative and is willing to help wherever needed.
Responsibilities- Move pumps and materials through the plant to support the full assembly and testing process.
- Operate a sit-down forklift to transport products from staging areas to the correct production stations.
- Use an overhead crane to safely move pumps and other heavy components within the production area.
- Take finished products from production and stage them for the warehouse team to store and put away.
- Support the testing team by helping hook up pumps for testing using basic hand and power tools, while the quality control team performs the actual tests.
- Assist in the warehouse as needed, including material handling, picking, packing, and packaging tasks.
- Build crates and prepare products for shipment as required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in line with facility standards.
- Adapt to changing priorities and help across different tasks to ensure production goals are met.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and a strong willingness to get the job done, regardless of the task.
- Proven experience operating a sit-down forklift in a production or warehouse environment.
- Experience using basic hand and power tools to support mechanical or production tasks.
- Experience with crate building, picking, packing, and packaging processes.
- Ability to safely handle and move materials throughout a plant setting.
- Flexibility to support both production and warehouse functions as needed.
- Strong teamwork, reliability, and a proactive, can-do attitude.
Skills & Qualifications
- Crane operation experience.
- Prior assembly experience in a production or manufacturing setting.
- Comfort working in a small, collaborative team environment.
- Willingness to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities over time.

WorkEnvironment
This is a 1st shift role with core hours of 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with overtime starting at 5:00 AM when needed. You will work in a clean, organized facility that, while not temperature-controlled, maintains relatively mild temperatures due to the absence of constantly running machinery. The environment is production-focused, with regular use of sit-down forklifts, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
You will be part of a small, close-knit team where flexibility, cooperation, and a willingness to help in different areas are highly valued.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Aurora, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
