3rd Shift Supervisor – Diamond Envelope Corporation – Aurora, IL Overview
We are seeking a dedicated 3rd Shift Supervisor to oversee daily shift operations in our fast‑paced environment. A supervisor is responsible for overseeing the activities, production, and work schedule of the assigned shift and must possess strong leadership skills. As a Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring that our team delivers exceptional envelope products and high standards of safety and quality.
Duties- Follow the company's safety programs and policies.
- Ensure compliance with safety, federal, state, local, industry, contractual, and company regulations, standards, specifications, and best practices.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
- Communicate and collaborate with the team to keep tasks aligned with goals and to optimize production processes.
- Reach shift target goals for the department, evaluate performance, and conduct documented performance management and development conversations with all direct reports.
- Collaborate with the plant manager on process improvements and maintain and update equipment and machinery; work with the machine shop team on goals, planning, and directing all equipment improvements.
- Possess experience and knowledge with mechanical systems and industrial electrical installation.
- Troubleshoot and maintain equipment, including familiarity with high‑voltage equipment, power distribution, motors, controls, PLC logic, and troubleshooting skills.
- Read schematics and electrical blueprints and designs.
- Use a wide variety of hand and power tools.
- Read and use meters.
- Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions using fault codes or safeties.
- Disassemble, fix, and reassemble mechanical and electrical components to return machines to production.
- Set up and operate machines according to prints and work instructions.
- Monitor machine operations to ensure high quality and accuracy of production.
- Measure finished parts utilizing precision tools to ensure compliance with function, quality, and cosmetic specifications.
- Inspect equipment prior to use and perform basic and routine adjustments and maintenance.
- Inspect finished products with precision measuring instruments such as micrometers for quality and adherence to specifications.
- Perform quality control throughout work assignments to maintain standards.
- Maintain necessary records and complete process documentation and production records as required.
- Perform minor maintenance on machines and assist maintenance personnel during repairs.
- Assist other areas when the workload is light.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- 5–7 years of work experience required.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team.
- Experience with envelope operations and maintenance.
- Basic math skills to calculate quantities and measurements.
- Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of envelope machining processes.
- Electrical and machining background in manufacturing preferred.
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and guide team members.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
