CNC Operator - Aurora, IL

Join a high-tech manufacturing team in Aurora, IL as a CNC Operator, where you will operate 4-axis CNC milling equipment to produce high-precision plastic disc components. In this role, you set up and run CNC machines, perform quality inspections, and clean and finish parts while consistently meeting production, safety, and quality standards. You will work on a designated shift from day one in a clean, safety-focused environment with opportunities to build advanced CNC experience and grow your career.

Responsibilities
  • Operate 4-axis CNC milling machines to produce high-quality plastic disc components according to production specifications and quality standards.
  • Perform basic machine setups, including changing tools in the Automatic Tool Changer (ATC) and selecting the correct CNC program for each production run.
  • Monitor machine performance during operation and make necessary adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and overall product quality.
  • Machine grooves into plastic discs with precise control over width, pitch, and depth to meet engineering requirements.
  • Machine plastic discs to achieve specified thickness and roughness targets, ensuring consistency across production batches.
  • Conduct visual and manual inspections of finished products using micrometers and other inspection tools to verify dimensions and quality.
  • Clean and finish parts using hand tools and inspection equipment, ensuring components are ready for further processing or shipment.
  • Accurately document production data and quality information in the appropriate records or systems.
  • Read and follow work instructions and established manufacturing processes to ensure consistent and repeatable results.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and housekeeping procedures to maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve basic mechanical or process issues and support continuous improvement efforts.
Essential Skills
  • Previous experience operating CNC machines in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with milling equipment, preferably 4-axis CNC milling machines.
  • Ability to perform basic machine setups, including tool changes and CNC program selection.
  • Ability to use micrometers and other basic inspection tools for dimensional verification.
  • Comfortable reading and understanding work instructions and following established manufacturing processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and adjust equipment within defined parameters.
  • Effective problem-solving skills in a production environment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift as required by production tasks.
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods while inspecting and cleaning parts.

  • Experience with advanced CNC equipment and multi-axis milling machines is a plus.
  • Familiarity with production documentation and quality recordkeeping.
  • Comfort working in a structured, process-driven manufacturing environment.

Operators start on their designated shift from day one, with available schedules including 1st shift (6:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m.), 2nd shift (2:00 p.m.–10:30 p.m.), and 3rd shift (10:00 p.m.–6:30 a.m., Sunday night to Friday morning). The environment emphasizes adherence to safety and housekeeping procedures, and requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, and periods of sitting and standing while inspecting and cleaning parts.
