Overview

The Procedural Nurse utilizes a systematic approach to nursing by incorporating assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the practice of nursing. Provides healthcare to individuals, families, and communities within the RN scope of practice as defined by the Illinois Board of Nursing.

Qualifications

Certifications:

Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA);
Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).

Education:

Associate’s Degree.

Work Experience:

Responsibilities

Provides and facilitates competent health care of patients and families in area of practice. Ensures adherence to established standards of care and scope of practice. Performs advanced nursing activities, which can include assisting with procedures using conscious sedation, placement of IVs, and administering chemotherapy drugs. Ensures documentation of care is complete and accurate. Provides health and wellness education to individuals and groups.

Acts as preceptor and supports the development of other staff and healthcare students. Provides leadership for initiatives designed to improve the quality of care or clinical outcomes. Assists Nursing Supervisor/coordinator in the development of departmental standing orders. Starts IVs on ECHO patients needing contrast administration. Responds to contrast reactions. Supports and monitors patients during DSE, TEE, tilt table, and cardioversion procedures.

Maintains conscious sedation proficiency and appropriate documentation requirements for care delivered. Screens patients before their stress tests, and works with performing physicians to ensure patient‑specific treatment is appropriate and provided according to protocol.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $32.21 per hour – $55.40 per hour. This represents a good‑faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
