Job Description
Join UChicago Medicine as a Staff Nurse in the NICU. A Staff Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) who manages patient‑centered care that is outcome‑directed. Patient‑centered care principles and professional nursing practice standards provide the foundation for the nurse to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care provided. The staff nurse assumes the primary responsibility and accountability for all patient care personally provided and that provided by those directly under her/his supervision.

A. Stephen Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Comer Children’s Hospital is among the largest in the Midwest, with approximately 1,000 admissions every year. Our NICU features 47 designated tertiary care beds (Level III) and 18 convalescent (Level II) beds. Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) can be provided for up to three infants at a time by a special group of ECMO specialists who supplement the NICU nursing staff.
- Graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing.
- Associate Degree in Nursing; BSN degree or higher preferred.
- Associate Degree Nurses are required to enroll in a BSN program within six to nine months of hire, and make progress toward and complete their BSN degree within 30 months. ADN nurses receive 100% tuition reimbursement toward a BSN degree from an accredited program.
- Current Illinois RN license.
- BLS Certification.
- NICU RN Experience.

Full‑time (0.9) - Shift: Night, 7:00 pm–7:00 am with every other weekend required.

The pay range is based on a full‑time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity.
