Postdoctoral Appointee - MSD Autonomous Materials Lab

We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher with expertise in materials synthesis using CVD/PVD or van der Waals fabrication and characterization using scanning electron microscopy. Experience in programming, interfacing hardware, and developing machine‑learning methods is highly desirable. The researcher will join an Argonne‑funded project with an interdisciplinary team of material scientists, computer scientists, and roboticists. The project focuses on developing an integrated autonomous lab system for structure‑property characterization of novel materials heterostructures for quantum and microelectronics applications.

Ph.D. in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Strong experimental background in materials synthesis (CVD, PVD) or van der Waals materials. Additional expertise in machine‑learning methods, programming, and robotics is highly desirable.

The expected hiring range for this position is $70,758.00–$. Please note that this pay range is a general guideline only. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as, but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, business considerations, internal equity, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
