Summary

The Assistant in Training (AIT) and Assistant Manager position’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement, “to create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” AIT and Assistant Managers perform a variety of sales, merchandising, and operational tasks assigned by store management, such as cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities. They work directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new teammates, and provide leadership.

The AIT and Assistant Manager share responsibility for training and motivating teammates and act as the Store Manager in their absence. The Assistant Manager is a progression from the AIT position and includes additional high‑level duties that are specific to that role, although most duties and responsibilities are shared.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay range: $20–$24/hr the range is the budgeted amount for this position; final offers are based on skill set, experience, location, qualifications, and other job‑related factors. For sales positions, Buckle pays a base rate plus commission on sales.

Sales Generation and Guest Service
  • Greet guests with a friendly, engaging attitude and consistently provide legendary service.
  • Answer questions about the store and its merchandise.
  • Recommend, select, and help locate merchandise based on guest needs.
  • Anticipate and fulfill guest needs by suggesting additional items and creating a wardrobe experience.
  • Demonstrate product using product knowledge and sales education, sharing knowledge with the team.
  • Keep up with current sales, promotions, payment policies, exchanges, and security practices.
  • Maintain personal sales performance and support teammates’ presentation using the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG).
  • Achieve personal sales‑per‑hour, average sales, and net sales goals set by Store Management.
  • Provide legendary service across the front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms, and register area.
  • Be knowledgeable of exchange and return procedures and turn them into showmanship opportunities.
  • Fill out the SPG daily to accomplish goals.
  • Meet or exceed performance standards in all Buckle business builders, including fit appointments, Buckle credit card, and guest connect.
  • Expand guest selection through inventory, advanced product search, iPad apps, and other tools.
  • Build strong guest relationships to develop a client‑based business.
  • Lead by example with high showmanship, excellent customer service, and attentiveness.
