Position: Seeking Assistant Store Manager!

The Assistant in Training (AIT) and Assistant Manager position’s primary responsibilities include a variety of sales, merchandising, and operational tasks assigned by store management such as cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities.

Sales Generation & Guest Service
  • Eager and assertive to answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise.
  • Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on guest needs.
  • Demonstrate product utilizing product knowledge and sales education.
  • Maintain and share knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies.
  • Remain consistent on personal sales and look for opportunities to impact teammates’ presentations with the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG).
  • Achieve personal sales‑per‑hour, average sales, and total net sales goals set by Store Management.
  • Provide legendary service throughout the store in the sales floor, fitting rooms, and the register area.
  • Fill out and effectively use the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG) daily to meet or exceed performance standards.
  • Investigate and navigate how to expand guest selection through inventory manager, advanced product search, iPad apps, etc.
  • Lead by example with a high level of showmanship, excellent customer service, consistently welcoming feedback from Manager to improve sales.
  • Plan sales goals with Store Manager.
  • Demonstrate ownership of store’s sales performance (Sales, Average sale, Teammate Recruiting, Training and Development).
Visual Merchandise Management
  • Recognize and assign zones and projects to teammates daily with a specific focus.
  • Partner with Store Manager to delegate, demonstrate, and review all four zones.
  • Confirm teammates are following through with visual standards, visual library, and weekly visual checklist throughout their shift with a sense of urgency.
  • Show aptitude in recognizing merchandising opportunities from freight to floor and life cycle of product, communicating recommendations and solutions to Store Manager.
  • Give informational and influential store tours.
  • Ensure sales floor is consistently sized and new freight is appropriately exhibited.
  • Exhibit ability to create changes to improve store’s overall performance via Performance Tracker and improve overall visual results.
  • Responsible for visual standards on floor and backroom.
Operations
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and the day of/day after Thanksgiving and Christmas, based upon store and business needs.
  • Watch for and recognize security risks and thefts, and know how to prevent or follow all Loss Prevention guidelines, including daily bag and purse checks.
  • Execute and teach all Point of Sale ("POS") procedures.
  • Appropriately handle calls from Corporate Office.
  • Understand and execute all policies regarding payments, returns, exchanges, and Loss Prevention practices.
  • Give guidance and feedback to all non‑sales staff.
  • Complete all scheduled shifts and cover shifts when needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and shoppable store to fulfill customer service while contributing to a positive team spirit.
  • Advise Store Manager and Leadership Team on merchandise and policy violations.
  • Understand and apply the Buckle’s Code of Ethics and all policies.
  • Complete new hire paperwork and tasks promptly and accurately based on Human Resources guidelines and legal policies.
  • Establish relationships with Corporate Office departments to assist Store Manager in effective operation of the store.
  • Monitor and maintain adequate inventory of supplies.
  • Handle emergencies in Store Manager’s absence in accordance with company policy.
  • Promote personal and store growth, motivate self‑education on all company tools.
  • Travel to cover other stores within District based on business needs.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

The assistant manager will also assist the Store Manager in supervising the team.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Related retail experience and/or training.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and travel, including overnight as required.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs throughout the store and backroom.
