Regional Sales Manager – Role Overview
The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for achieving assigned regional sales goals and growth through effective sales planning and execution. The position emphasizes growth through the development of new customers and the maintenance and enhancement of existing customer relationships.
Core Responsibilities- Increase distribution of product lines by managing broker relationships and providing training and support to broker representatives.
- Develop and deliver sales presentations, proposals, and formal customer meetings to maintain and grow sales of Smithfield products.
- Plan regional sales strategies, customize plans to local and regional cultures, and execute sales promotions and incentive programs.
- Collaborate directly with broker partners to drive consumer packaged goods execution, distribution, and new item placement in the territory.
- Use syndicated data and other resources to promote product lines and meet sales objectives while coordinating with company functions.
- Provide leadership and guidance to Senior Sales Account Managers, Sales Account Managers, or Sales Representatives, including hiring, training, performance appraisal, and dispute resolution.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university and 5+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in a leadership position involving team development and management.
- Strong knowledge of the Consumer Packaged Goods industry and customer‑focused, fact‑based selling, including IRI, Nielsen, and Perishable Group data.
- Understanding of product cutting knowledge and comfort with product attributes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational planning, teamwork, analytical reasoning, and adaptability skills.
- Proficiency with Apple software, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint; SAP experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel at least 50% of the time.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment and build respectful, team‑oriented relationships.
- Provide leadership and guidance to sales account managers and representatives.
- Conduct hiring, training, and performance evaluations in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
- Address employee complaints and implement appropriate resolutions.
Salary Range: $87,000 – $131,250. Relocation Package Available.
