The School Safety and Security Site Lead is responsible for maintaining the overall safety, security, and physical integrity of the school campus during after-school hours, evening programs, and special events. This role is responsible for maintaining high situational awareness through active technology monitoring, physical patrols, and effective conflict de-escalation to ensure a secure environment for students, staff, and visitors. This is a part-time position (FTE 0.7).
The work calendar is attached. On student attendance days, the position works 3:00 pm - 9:06 pm. On non-student attendance days, the position works 8:00 am - 2:06 pm.
Job Summary:- Surveillance and Patrol:
Actively monitor campus security cameras, access control systems and conduct regular physical rounds of the building and grounds to ensure all areas are secure for extra-curricular activities. - Emergency Response and De-escalation:
Lead the initiation and coordination of emergency response protocols in accordance with district crisis plans. Utilize verbal de-escalation techniques to resolve low-level conflicts or unauthorized presence on campus. This also includes responding immediately to address safety concerns and emergency situations. - Liaison Duties:
Serve as the primary point of contact and liaison between first responders (police, fire, EMS) and school administration, particularly the School Safety and Emergency Preparedness Coordinator during after-hours incidents or emergencies. - Access Control and Visitor Management:
Communicate safety information as needed when managing visitors. Verify authorized access for after-school facility rentals and community groups. - Safety Promotion:
Promote a safe and professional school environment by observing and reporting any security vulnerabilities or safety hazards on school property. - Professionalism:
Cultivate inclusive and equitable working relationships with staff and community members while maintaining strict confidentiality regarding safety and security matters. - Communication & Operations:
Maintain continuous radio contact with event staff, custodians, and administration as needed. Track after-school program schedules and occupancy across the facility. - Documentation & Reporting:
Provide regular verbal updates to the administration responsible for activities and athletics regarding security incidents, policy violations, or operational concerns that impact campus safety or facility maintenance. Written reports will be provided quarterly and as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES:- Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with staff, visitors, and first responders.
- Ability to exercise sound independent judgment and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work collaboratively with school and district personnel and maintain organizational relationships.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, visitors, and students.
- Ability to walk, stand, and move quickly throughout a multi-story campus for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to sit at a monitoring station for prolonged periods.
- Ability to describe problems and work orally or in writing to supervisor as needed.
- Knowledge and experience with security software (camera systems and two-way radio equipment).
- Demonstrate organization and time management skills.
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
High school diploma or equivalent required. - Minimum of 2 years of prior experience in security, law enforcement, military, or school operations preferred.
- Must hold a valid driver's license.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Red Cross First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/AED Certificate or equivalent.
- Must complete district-approved ALICE training.
Use standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copier and fax machines and telephone. Use security specific technology.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:Work in a standard school building environment.

JOB CATEGORY AND WORK CALENDAR:Non-Bargaining, Calendar 5600 (211 days). Hours on non-student attendance days would be different than hours on student attendance days.
