Summary

The Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy equipment and vehicles including gantry cranes, forklifts, Tuckerbilts, end loaders, spotter trucks, air compressors, and diesel-powered equipment. This role requires a strong mechanical and electrical background, knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair heavy equipment and vehicle systems including gantry cranes, Tuckerbilts, forklifts, spotter trucks, end loaders, air compressors, and diesel engines.
  • Apply knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and diesel systems for troubleshooting and repair.
  • Read and interpret service and parts manuals, electrical and hydraulic schematics, and repair diagrams.
  • Complete assigned work orders and maintenance tasks efficiently and accurately.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair activities.
  • Perform basic welding and fabrication as needed.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and shop areas in clean, organized condition.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding repair priorities and completion status.
  • Be available for on-call maintenance needs as required.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or trade school equivalent required.
  • Minimum two years of hands‑on experience in vehicle or heavy equipment maintenance.
  • Demonstrated expertise in diesel engine diagnostics and repair.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and DC electrical systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and complete work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Basic welding and fabrication skills.
  • Must have a personal tool set suitable for the position.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English;
    Spanish speaking highly desirable.
  • Willingness to complete third‑party training courses as assigned.
  • Must exhibit strong judgment, organization, and time‑management.
Environment and

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs consistently.
  • Must be able to bend, climb, and work in physically demanding conditions.
  • Work performed in a plant environment with exposure to heat, humidity, and dust.
  • Full‑time position, typically 40+ hours per week.
  • Must be willing to be on‑call 24/7 as needed for maintenance emergencies.
