Job Summary
Skilled Maintenance Worker assembles, repairs and performs preventative maintenance on various types of furniture, small appliances, and equipment. Repairs minor utility system components and completes room PM tasks in accordance with department procedures.

- Starting at $20.59 per hour
- Estimated range: $20.59 – $31.91 per hour, based on experience
- Assists or performs record‑keeping duties to maintain compliance with regulatory agency requirements.
- Assists with maintaining adequate inventory of supplies and repair components for the shop.
- Assists skilled tradespeople in performing PM work, repair work, or projects as needed.
- Cuts and labels keys for the Health Center and its satellites.
- Develops and maintains a positive working relationship with departments, Health Center personnel, and outside agencies.
- Helps maintain hospital security by working with the Security Department.
- Inspects, maintains, and repairs a variety of small electrical appliances, mechanical equipment, and mechanical devices.
- Performs minor carpentry and painting repairs and touch‑ups on furniture or building structures.
- Inspects, maintains, and repairs minor components of utility systems, including electrical, plumbing, medical gases, and nurse call systems—typically limited to end points or final components.
- Opens locked offices, desks, file cabinets, lockers, and cabinets throughout the Health Center.
- Performs general grounds maintenance activities using power and manual equipment (primarily snow removal on an emergency basis).
- Performs PM work and repairs on doors, including passage, smoke, control, and fire doors (including closing and latching mechanisms).
- Completes the duties required to finish the Room PM procedure, covering carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and painting tasks as outlined in the department’s Room PM program procedures.
- Repairs, replaces, and sets up door cylinders for keying.
- Repairs, replaces, and sets up locks for file cabinets, lockers, desks, and cabinets throughout the Health Center.
- Repairs, replaces, and sets up panic hardware and door closures—electric and manual.
- Repairs and replaces door lock sets throughout the Health Center.
- Maintains and repairs combination change on electronic and manual locks.
- Supports the Health Center’s continuous quality improvement efforts designed to improve patient outcomes, satisfaction, and resource utilization.
- Transports equipment, supplies, and materials using various methods such as carrying/lifting, wheeled carts, and power equipment.
- Utilizes a variety of hand and power tools, testing equipment, and monitoring instruments.
