Job Overview

Field-based service and maintenance technician role focused on applied chiller systems and HVAC equipment in the commercial sector. This position serves as the primary contact for customers in a defined market, addressing new facility setups and retrofits.

Responsibilities
  • Install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair applied chiller systems and associated HVAC equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control-related issues using technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools.
  • Evaluate system operation and recommend repairs, upgrades, or efficiency improvements.
  • Communicate clearly and consistently to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety policies, environmental regulations, and company standards.
  • Support emergency service calls and respond to customer issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain company tools, test equipment, service vehicle, and parts as needed.
Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or equivalent, or certificate from an accredited technical school (required).
  • Formal training or technical school experience preferred.
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office and proficiency with a handheld computer (e.g., smartphone, iPad).
  • Valid driver’s license for at least 12 months with no major or frequent violations in the past 3 years.
  • EPA certification preferred (e.g., HVAC Journeyman, Boiler Operator, Gas Installer).
  • Experience servicing applied chillers, large-tonnage HVAC systems, or commercial/industrial mechanical equipment preferred.
  • Experience with centrifugal, screw, scroll, or absorption chillers preferred.
  • Knowledge of refrigeration cycles, compressors, heat exchangers, pumps, motors, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, piping schematics, and technical service literature.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, gauges, and diagnostic instruments.
  • Familiarity with building automation systems and chiller controls.
Compensation

Hourly pay range: $29.91 - $55.61 (basis adjusted for seniority, merit, location, and experience). Incentives and commissions are not offered for this position.
