Position Summary
The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating power industrial trucks to move, locate, stack, and count merchandise. They ensure accurate storing, shipping, and receiving of products while complying with safety and company standards.
Responsibilities- Unload inbound shipments and move products to storage locations; input data accurately into the Warehouse Management System.
- Efficiently stack and store product.
- Maintain an organized work area.
- Pull and prepare exact product for shipment, meeting customer service standards.
- Prepare freight for operations accurately and timely.
- Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage; report variances.
- Move product from staging or storage to production lines or docks, ensuring proper documentation accompanies freight.
- Maintain accurate records for inventory control and security; assist in physical inventories and stock rotation.
- Maintain a clean, orderly work area and support warehouse security.
- Load, unload, stack, and stage product using forklift, clamp truck, drum attachment, or other power equipment.
- Perform daily minor maintenance on equipment.
- Operate all equipment safely and efficiently following prescribed methods.
- Maintain an active forklift certification.
- Assist with building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as assigned.
- Change fuel tanks on forklifts as needed; perform labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking.
- Repair pallets, trailers, and truck bays.
- Help maintain a clean, safe work environment.
- Perform duties as required and work overtime as dictated by business needs.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 6 months experience in logistics, distribution, or a related environment.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment.
- Willingness to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures, ranging from mild to moderate.
- Completion of a forklift training program.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with RF scanners and WMS functions.
- English reading, writing, and verbal skills.
- Basic to intermediate math skills for verifying quantities.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision or guidance.
- Adaptability to a fast‑paced work environment.
- 1‑2 years experience in a warehouse, logistics, or distribution environment.
- 1‑2 years forklift experience.
- Current or prior material handling equipment certification.
- Requires handling/finger touch and sitting.
- Frequently bending.
- Constant walking and standing.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 21‑50 pounds; reach above shoulder, reach outward, squat, or kneel.
Warehouse setting with low to moderate noise levels. Employees are rarely exposed to fumes or chemicals.
CompensationBase pay $19.00–$21.00 per hour; actual compensation determined by experience, skills, education, certification, and location.
