Position Summary:
We are seeking a Maintenance Associate to join our team in Aurora, IL. This is a unique role within Apex that provides an opportunity to help multiple aspects of the business.

There are (2) warehouses close to each other located in Aurora, IL. One is located on Plum Street; the other is off Smoketree. The Maintenance Associate will be responsible for ensuring both buildings and equipment within those buildings are maintained, cleaned, and operating. This will include loading and unloading trucks, battery maintenance, and making local deliveries at times.

This is a new position for Apex and the ideal candidate will understand that job functions might change as we learn more about what is needed for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform general warehouse upkeep, including cleaning, organizing, and maintaining a safe and orderly environment at both Plum Tree and Smoke Tree locations.
  • Maintaining and cleaning the warehouse floors at both locations
  • Maintaining and cleaning recovery tank
  • Moving and Organizing Forklifts
  • Maintaining charging routines for stock forklift batteries
  • Maintaining demo units including cleaning and charging
  • Organize stored items in rack
  • Support occasional local deliveries; reliable transportation is required for travel between locations.
  • Observe and promote safe work practices and procedures
  • Support other warehouse departments as needed to meet company goals
  • Operate forklifts safely and efficiently (various makes and models)
  • Ensure warehouse safety by maintaining a clean and organized workspace
  • Assist in receiving and inspecting inbound materials for accuracy and quality

Physical Requirements:

  • Work in a warehouse environment with exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and dust.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods, up to a full 8-hour shift.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. regularly and occasionally handle heavier materials.
  • Climb ladders, kneel, bend, and maneuver in tight spaces as needed.
  • Frequent use of hands and arms to operate machinery and handle materials.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Previous warehouse experience or related field is a plus but not required.
  • Forklift operation experience with a variety of models required is a plus but not a requirement.
    * It will be expected that you will learn how to operate a forklift.
  • Knowledge of material handling equipment
  • Ability to maintain organization in a fast-moving warehouse environment.
  • Must pass a drug test and background check required.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including steel-toe boots, hard hats, and safety shields.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • A teachable and growth-oriented mindset.
  • Bilingual candidates are a plus.
