Operations is responsible for materials handling and product distribution in a distribution or manufacturing environment. Includes warehousing and fulfillment of materials and products, transportation, inventory management as well as demand, supply and manufacturing planning.
Warehouse Operations is responsible for performing/controlling a combination of manual or automated tasks necessary for the receipt, storage, and shipment of product. This may include functions of receiving, picking, packing, shipping, staging, transporting, storage, delivery, etc. Also responsible for the efficient flow of products from the point of product receipt from vendors to the shipment of products (via prescribed service parameters) to a variety of internal and external customers.
Job SummaryThe Supervisor, Warehouse Operations supervises a team of Outbound Operations warehouse associates and ensures that pick, pack, and ship operations are safe, efficient, and of high quality. With responsibility for the night shift, the Supervisor continually monitors efficiency and quality metrics, assigns work and provides coaching to supervised staff, and addresses a variety of operational issues. The Supervisor directly contributes to Cardinal Health's customer service reputation by ensuring that shipments are on-time and of high quality, develops the Warehouse Operations talent pool, and enhances operational excellence.
Location/Shift- Location: This is an on-site position (5 days a week) based out of Cardinal Health's Aurora, IL distribution center supporting pharmaceutical supply chain operations.
- Night Shift Support :
Sunday‑Thursday Outbound Operations Night Shift support. Schedule rotation every quarter but may vary based on work demands. Must be able to do both schedules:- Schedule 1:
- Sunday: 4:00 pm‑12:30 am
- Monday‑Thursday: 5:00 pm‑1:30 am
- Schedule 2:
- Sunday‑Thursday: 8:30 pm‑5:00 am

- Directs and manages a team of 20‑30 Outbound Operations warehouse associates to achieve timely distribution and receipt of products and motivate employees to ensure that predetermined productivity and quality standards including cycle times, scans per hour, shortages, damaged units, missed dispatches, and missed scans, among others are achieved.
- Monitors site productivity standards and holds associates accountable to daily, weekly, monthly metrics; provides timely feedback and initiates corrective action process when needed.
- Adheres to budgetary guidelines and works to meet Distribution Center objectives and operational goals while maintaining standards pertaining to quality and inventory.
- Responsible for continuous improvement projects and initiatives (ex. Gemba walks, Kaizen workshops, takt boards, etc.).
- Performs daily scheduling of the workforce to ensure proper staffing to select, replenish, restock, locate and ship merchandise in a productive and cost‑efficient manner.
- Coordinates maintenance of equipment, guiding both preventive maintenance and coordinating all necessary repairs.
- Actively engages in employee development, which includes training, coaching, counseling, and performance appraisals.
- Majority of workday is spent on the floor while balancing administrative duties.
- Collaborates with cross‑functional teams at all levels within the organization, specifically within HR groups on a daily basis.
- Interviews and makes hiring decisions for lead and associate level roles.
- Mares general responsibility for disciplinary process in the area of counseling, oral and written warnings; ensures a productive work climate in the warehouse operation.
- Prepares ad hoc reports, as necessary using Excel.
- Responsible for accurate timekeeping, attendance/PTO records and ensures scheduling is maintained.
- Holds staff accountable for conducting work in a safe manner while enforcing Cardinal Health compliance and regulations concerning OSHA, DEA, FDA, State and local authorities.
