The Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising labor management and planning of inbound and outbound activities, product slotting, and daily customer communications. Duties include labor scheduling, space utilization, equipment and manpower coordination. Under direction of the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager, the Supervisor manages the receiving, warehousing, and shipping of products in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives.
EssentialDuties And Responsibilities
- Conduct staff meetings to review daily/weekly work activities, plan and assure continuous improvement.
- Keep senior management and client representatives informed of critical issues affecting operations.
- Develop and implement systems and procedures for managing operations, equipment, and products safely and profitably, complying with company policies and client agreements.
- Meet client-specified KPIs and comply with quality system requirements.
- Plan and assign daily work schedules, assess priorities, and allocate duties to appropriate staff.
- Review pending jobs, plan warehouse space reorganization, and adjust supplies, equipment, or staffing levels as needed.
- Train new staff in assigned duties or delegate training responsibility to experienced team members; assess trainee progress and assign additional duties as appropriate.
- Maintain awareness of quantity and quality of jobs, providing guidance and advice.
- Assign supervisory duties to experienced team members acting as leads for lower-level staff; stay informed of progress or problems.
- Communicate daily with Manager regarding progress or issues requiring attention; hold regular meetings with warehouse staff to assess group status, discuss improvement ideas, and keep staff informed of developments.
- Assist in physical operations as needed.
- Leverage the skills of the right people at the right time to deliver results.
- Maintain high motivation among team members to focus on customer satisfaction.
- Provide ongoing growth and development opportunities for team members.
- Conduct annual performance reviews and provide input for promotions and wage increases.
- Support adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and train team members accordingly.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 3 years experience in a logistics/distribution or relevant environment.
- Minimum 1 year experience in a supervisory role.
- Completion of forklift training program.
- Preferred: MHE certification or basic knowledge of manual handling equipment operation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office:
Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. - Experience with RF scanners.
- Experience with Warehouse Management System (WMS) functions.
- English for reading, writing, and speaking.
- Strong ability to communicate in written and oral form.
- Basic to intermediate level for verifying product quantities, counting inventory, and performing related duties.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy; complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Good organizational and personnel skills.
- Good communication skills, written and oral.

- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends.
