Position SummaryThe Team Lead oversees and coordinates all operational activities in the warehouse, including receiving, shipping, and quality control. Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, the Team Lead ensures associates execute tasks in line with company service and cost objectives while maintaining safety, compliance, and customer service standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Training Responsibilities: Mentor and train new and existing associates on distribution activities, SOPs (shipping, receiving, picking, QC), and forklift operation/certification.
- Shipping/Receiving Responsibilities: Oversee inbound unloading, product stacking, outbound staging, verify paperwork, load orders accurately, follow SOPs, and investigate discrepancies.
- Customer Service: Conduct yourself professionally, communicate with customers via phone, email or in person, and prepare activity reports for management.
- Quality Control Responsibilities: Use documentation to ensure correct receiving/shipping/picking, verify standards, report defects, handle packaging tasks, and attend quality meetings.
- Safety, Housekeeping, and Compliance: Enforce ISO, safety protocols, and OSHA/MSDS standards; maintain a clean, secure warehouse; participate in safety meetings.
- Labor Management: Direct warehouse team to meet objectives, assist associates with productivity sheets, help set schedules, and ensure proper product handling.
- Responsibility and Authority: Attend department meetings, document non‑conformities, and report to the Quality Department.
- Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain sit‑down/stand‑up trucks, reach trucks, sweeper scrubbers, scissor lifts, cherry pickers, pallet jacks, etc.; keep an active forklift certification.
- Maintenance: Perform or assist with building, grounds, and equipment upkeep.
- Other Duties: Administrative tasks such as answering phones, scheduling, filing; work evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed.
- Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Required Qualifications
- Education & Experience: High school diploma or GED; 1 year in logistics or distribution; able to operate material handling equipment; work in moderate temperatures.
- Certificates: Forklift training completion.
- Computer
Skills:
Basic computer use, RF scanners, and WMS functions. - Language: English (reading, writing, verbal).
- Mathematical
Skills:
Basic–intermediate ability to verify quantities and inventory. - Other: Strong attention to detail and punctuality, ability to work with minimal supervision, clear communication, adaptability to change.
- 2–4 years in a warehouse/logistics environment.
- 2–4 years of proven forklift experience.
- Current or prior MHE certification.
- Occasional: Hand/finger manipulation, sitting, handling packages.
- Frequently: Bending.
- Constantly: Walking and standing.
- Lift/Carry and push/pull 21–50 pounds; reach above shoulder, reach outward, squat, or kneel.
The employee rarely is exposed to fumes, airborne particles, or toxic chemicals. Noise levels are normally low to moderate.
