Warehouse Supervisor – Job Description

Position Summary

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily warehouse operations to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and safety. This role manages warehouse staff, coordinates inbound and outbound shipments, maintains inventory integrity, and ensures compliance with company policies and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Management.
  • Supervise day-to-day warehouse activities, including receiving, storing, picking, packing, and shipping.
  • Assign tasks, monitor workflow, and ensure productivity goals are met.
  • Maintain accurate inventory through regular cycle counts and reconciliation.
  • Coordinate logistics with carriers, suppliers, and internal departments.
  • Staff Leadership.
  • Train, coach, and evaluate warehouse associates.
  • Schedule shifts, approve time cards, and manage labor needs.
  • Encourage teamwork, communication, and accountability among staff.
  • Safety & Compliance.
  • Enforce safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized warehouse environment.
  • Conduct safety audits, equipment inspections, and incident reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
Process Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve accuracy.
  • Implement best practices in warehouse operations, inventory systems, and workflow optimization.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and technology upgrades.
  • Reporting & Documentation.
  • Prepare daily/weekly performance reports.
  • Maintain documentation for inbound/outbound shipments, inventory levels, and equipment maintenance.
  • Use warehouse management systems (WMS) to track productivity and inventory.
Qualifications
  • Education & Experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
  • 2–4 years of warehouse or logistics experience; 1+ year in a supervisory role preferred.
  • Skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities.
  • Knowledge of WMS, inventory control, and basic computer skills (Excel, ERP systems).
  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) — certification a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs, stand for long periods, and work in varying temperatures.
Working Conditions
  • Fast-paced warehouse environment.
  • May require overtime, weekend work, or flexible scheduling based on operational needs.
