Facilities Assistant

Summary Ensure everyday maintenance of TCP building facilities.

Essential Duties Actively support the company’s culture and business mission by always putting TCP’s people and its customers first.

Monitor and participate in assigned operations, per direction of Facility Manager Provide maintenance to facility, snow removal, general clean up and general repairs, and janitorial duties as required.

Work towards resolving problems and provide support to Facilities Manager Repair or replace defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.

Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that equipment continues to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.

Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments. May require electrical and electronic testing devices.

Order materials and supplies when required for repairs or projects. Record type and cost of maintenance or repair work.

Assist in the tracking and monitoring of facility expenditures and provide information to Facilities Manager for budget purposes.

Records data in regards to work performance/performed, materials and supplies used, purchase requests, general maintenance, etc.

Provides information in regards to the up keep of facility to ensure all items are in good working order

On occasion may need to diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints and / or repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.

Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.

Actively promotes and personally observes safety and security procedures, and uses equipment and materials properly.

Other responsibilities or projects assigned by manager.

Experience/Requirements Good knowledge of the facility and how it operates

Experience in carpentry, electrical, mechanical; a PLUS Skillful team worker.

Consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction and solicits feedback to improve performance

The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.

Education/Training Previous safety training / knowledge

High school graduate or equivalent

Physical/Environmental Required to move or lift light objects (up to 50 pounds). May need to work outdoors in weather conditions.

Sitting for long periods of time, completing tasks using a computer and other office equipment.

Position requires frequent talking, hearing, and vision with occasional standing, walking and reaching.

Job position responsibilities are generally performed in a business office environment with computers, printers and phones.
