Summary:
The Production Associate is responsible for completing the daily assembly activities of TCP according to product specifications. This role assists in achieving department goals and objectives. This position works from product samples, wire diagrams, or printed instructions, uses hand and power tools to complete assembly of wide variety of sub‑assemblies and/or final products.
- Actively support the company’s culture and business mission by always putting TCP’s people and its customers first.
- Assemble jobs as assigned by assembly supervisor.
- Read and follow written and verbal directions.
- Actively participate in team roles and team development, including continuous improvement initiatives to meet cycle time, schedule and quality objectives.
- Work cohesively with others toward department goals, create a positive working environment and offer support and assistance to enhance team performance; working collaboratively with co‑workers and management to achieve department goals and objectives.
- Keep work area clean and safe. Assure trash is removed from work area in a timely manner and is properly disposed. All unused material is properly returned to stock. Conform to departmental 5S guidelines.
- Properly follow company guidelines as defined in associate handbook.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by assembly supervisor.
- Verify products meet or exceed stated requirements related to workmanship, engineering change orders, production material notices, evaluations samples and test criteria.
- Perform or inspect component replacement and rework on units, sub‑assemblies and overhaul/exchange assemblies as required.
- Mechanical assembly using excellent manual dexterity, depth perception and attention to detail.
- Comply with safety guidelines, policies and procedures including proper PPE.
- Follow all departmental Standard Operating Procedures and guidelines.
- May be asked to assist supervisor in coordinating activities of production workers engaged in various processes, utilizing knowledge of equipment, procedures and specifications.
- May be asked to lead and direct the work of other production associates.
- Actively promotes and personally observes safety and security procedures, and uses equipment and materials properly.
- Other responsibilities or projects assigned by manager.
- Minimum of 12 months in warehouse related experience. Assembly experience is a plus.
- Exercise certain degree of independent judgment based on experience to plan and accomplish goals.
- Excellent manual dexterity and ability to use hands and basic hand tools.
- Must be able to distinguish between red, blue, yellow, green and orange electrical wiring.
- Work in a fast paced environment, standing, and/or walking 8-10 hours a day working manual and electronic equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds on a regular basis as required.
- Perform or inspect component replacement and rework on units, sub‑assemblies and overhaul/exchange assemblies as required.
- Consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction and solicits feedback to improve performance.
- The ability to work in a warehouse setting with temperature fluctuation from hot to cold throughout the year.
- Depth perception.
- Able to work in team environment; to work collaboratively with others as a team.
- Attention to detail and follow directions given.
- Able to hold and use drills or pneumatic tools to assemble TCP products.
- Able to read schematics or engineering drawings as required.
- Coordinate and interact effectively with other functions (engineering, shipping/receiving, etc) as required.
- Compute basic math and problem solving skills.
- Stand for long periods of time.
- May be required to run semi‑automated equipment according to established procedures.
- Willing to work overtime as assigned by assembly supervisor.
- Able to work until all work is completed; extending work time past normal shift end times.
- Able to safely meet performance expectations for quality, teamwork, productivity and housekeeping.
