Clean Room Material Handler – 1st Shift

This 1st shift Material Handler role is a hands-on position in a clean room, temperature-controlled environment supporting the pharmaceutical industry. You work Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., assisting excipient operators and chemical handlers, handling materials, operating forklifts, and maintaining highly accurate documentation to meet strict quality standards.

Responsibilities
  • Assist excipient operators and chemical handlers in a clean room environment and remain open to supporting different areas as needed, including bulk filling operations.
  • Load and unload trucks and operate a forklift for approximately 50% of the workday.
  • Store, pick, stage, and ship products according to work orders and production schedules.
  • Handle products used in the pharmaceutical industry with extremely accurate documentation and strong attention to detail.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds regularly and move product on cartons, pallets, and in rail car containers.
  • Load trucks, package orders, and ensure all shipments are properly labeled and documented.
  • Weigh, measure, and check raw materials in accordance with work orders and quality guidelines.
  • Manage and track inventory, including documenting stock levels and reporting shortages.
  • Assist with cycle counts and audits, making inventory adjustments in the computer system as needed.
  • Put away stock in designated locations and record when inventory is low or when discrepancies occur.
  • Operate a shrink-wrap machine to secure pallets and packaged materials.
  • Use an ERP system for documentation, tracking materials, and completing sign-offs for each operation during down packing.
  • Wear a ventilated hood and other required PPE when working in the clean room and assisting with bulk filling.
  • Operate filling machines in the clean room environment while adhering to established procedures.
  • Organize the work area, stock products, and maintain a clean, orderly, and safe workspace.
  • Work within ISO 9001:2015 quality standard guidelines and follow all related procedures.
  • Stand, bend, twist, and lift throughout the entire shift in a physically active role.
  • Follow detailed work orders and documentation processes to ensure compliance with quality and safety requirements.
Essential Skills
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 2 years of forklift experience, including sit-down or stand-up reach truck operation.
  • Demonstrated experience with very detailed documentation and following work orders accurately.
  • Strong basic math skills to calculate weights and measurements for materials.
  • Ability to work comfortably in a clean room environment and handle chemicals in accordance with safety protocols.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks such as standing, bending, and twisting for the entire shift.
  • Proficiency using an ERP system or similar computer-based system for documentation and inventory tracking.
  • Ability to work within ISO 9001:2015 quality standards and follow structured procedures.
  • Ownership of steel toe boots and willingness to wear required personal protective equipment, including a ventilated hood when necessary.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of material handling and documentation.

  • Experience as a chemical handler, batch mixer, or in a similar material handling role in a manufacturing or warehouse setting.
  • Working in clean room environments with strict cleanliness and documentation requirements.
  • Comfort operating filling machines and shrink-wrap equipment.
  • Familiarity with inventory management, cycle counts, and audit processes.
  • Ability to organize work areas efficiently and maintain a well-stocked and orderly workspace.
  • Willingness to be clean shaven when required for proper use of ventilated hoods and other PPE in specific areas.
  • Strong teamwork skills and openness to assisting in departments outside of shipping when needed.
