EXAMINATIONThe examination will consist of an evaluation of education and experience, accomplished by analysis of the application. The application must document that the applicant possesses the minimum knowledge, skills, education, and experience listed to be rated as qualified. If selected, an official, accredited college transcript is required, at the time of employment, for all degrees/coursework used to qualify for this position.
Purposeof Classification
The purpose of this classification is to perform secretarial and administrative support functions in the management of the office or chambers of an assigned Fulton County Judge. Responsibilities include supervision of assigned staff, maintaining/coordinating the Judge’s calendar, and acting as a liaison between the Judge, attorneys, staff, litigants, other agencies and individuals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff: develop and oversee employee work schedules, process concerns and problems, counsel or discipline as appropriate, assist with or complete performance appraisals, act as liaison between employees and management, and train staff in operations, policies, and procedures.
- Organizes, prioritizes, assigns, and/or coordinates work; prioritizes and schedules work activities to meet objectives; ensures staff have the proper resources; monitors status of work in progress; assists with complex/problem situations and provides technical expertise; and provides progress and activity reports to Judge and/or court staff.
- Maintains and coordinates the Judge’s schedule.
- Maintains membership dues and organization affiliations: review requirements for Judicial/Legal Continuing Education credits; review invoices for renewal of Bar Memberships and other organization affiliations; complete payment vouchers for Judge’s signature; and submit for payment.
- Acts as liaison between Judge and attorneys, staff, litigants, other agencies, and the general public: provide information regarding court calendars and proceedings; respond to mail, email and phone calls; and maintain high visibility and confidentiality.
- Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations: receive and review documentation, including billing invoices, timesheets, leave slips, attendance reports, and various legal documents/forms; review, complete, process, forward or retain as appropriate; prepare or complete various forms, reports, correspondence, and other documentation, including verdict forms, orders, financial statements, purchase orders, and performance appraisals; compile data for further processing or for use in preparation of department reports;
and maintain computerized and/or hardcopy records. - Makes travel/training arrangements: review regulations governing continuing judicial education to ensure staff compliance; conduct research and make training, travel and lodging arrangements; review invoices; complete and submit reports and reimbursement forms.
