What You Will Be Doing

The Technical Career Development Instructor is responsible for the support and execution of the company’s technical career development programs by communicating with, advising, monitoring and collaborating with leadership and technicians. Key functions will be site visits, micro‑on‑site training sessions, advocating the functions of career development programs, reporting on and monitoring the progress of technicians and focusing on relevance of material through assessment and advisory meetings.

The position will also act as a conduit between the training department and the service departments.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Working with designated team members and service leadership, monitor the effectiveness of tasks and program details of our Career Development programs.
  • Sign off on the task completions and level changes of Yancey Technicians.
  • Consult with technicians and service managers concerning career development progress and obstacles.
  • Routinely visit Yancey service departments, checking in with Technicians and service management.
  • Facilitate scheduled meetings with service management and regional management.
  • Schedules and facilitates annual advisory meetings to determine needs in tasks, training and criteria for levels for various career development paths.
  • Complete a yearly needs assessment to determine training class needs for the upcoming year.
  • Input task and level changes.
  • Prepare clear, leadership‑ready status updates and reports.
  • Create future career development programs as requested.
  • Identify improvement opportunities in career development support at the branch level.
  • Work closely with the Technical Training Manager to plan and implement strategies to maintain and improve the career development capabilities of the technical training classes.
  • Provide support to the technical training team as requested by the Technical Training Manager.
  • Assessment of new employee capabilities – to help determine level placement.
  • Facilitate basic systems and operations training during on‑site visits.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Participate in required safety program, and work in a safe manner.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by management.
Education & Experience

Who We Are Looking For:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in repair‑related roles, achieving high levels of performance.
  • Strong systems / computer skills and experience.
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • The ideal candidate is highly organized, execution‑oriented, quality focused and comfortable communicating with technicians and supervision. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and effectiveness of our career development programs.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple functions.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong follow‑through.
Physical Demands / Environmental Conditions
  • Active movement on shop floors.
  • Frequently sitting, repetition – hand/wrist simple grasping.
  • Occasionally pushing/pulling, reaching.
  • Bending/twisting, walking, standing.
  • Travel to and from branch locations.
  • Crouching/stooping/squatting, crawling/kneeling, climbing/stepping.
  • Shop settings as well as Corporate Offices:
    Open shop and climate‑controlled environment. Work under fluorescent lighting. Possible exposure to loud noise levels.
