The Fordy Group is partnering with a leading civil construction contractor to identify a Vice President of Preconstruction to provide enterprise-level leadership across all civil markets and regions. This role is responsible for setting preconstruction strategy, driving disciplined pursuit decisions, and ensuring projects are positioned for successful execution, risk management, and profitability.

The Vice President of Preconstruction will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, overseeing estimating, scheduling, constructability, and risk strategy for a diverse portfolio that includes transportation, heavy civil, utilities, structures, water and wastewater, site development, and alternative delivery projects.

Executive Responsibilities
  • Establish and lead the company’s preconstruction vision, strategy, and operating standards across all civil markets.
  • Provide executive oversight of estimating, scheduling, value engineering, constructability, and risk management for all major pursuits.
  • Partner with the CEO, COO, and business development leadership on pursuit strategy, go/no-go decisions, and long-term growth planning.
  • Lead and develop multi-regional preconstruction teams, building bench strength and succession planning.
  • Ensure accurate, competitive, and risk-adjusted pricing aligned with market conditions and operational capacity.
  • Drive seamless transition from preconstruction to operations, ensuring budgets, schedules, and execution plans are fully aligned.
  • Support alternative delivery pursuits, including design-build, CM/GC, and negotiated work, with a focus on risk allocation and contract strategy.
  • Maintain senior-level relationships with owners, designers, and strategic partners.
  • Provide executive reporting on pipeline quality, backlog risk, market trends, and estimating performance.
  • Champion continuous improvement, innovation, and technology adoption within preconstruction.
Executive Qualifications
  • 20+ years of civil construction experience with senior leadership responsibility in preconstruction, estimating, or operations.
  • Proven track record leading large, multi-discipline teams across multiple civil market sectors.
  • Deep technical and commercial understanding of civil construction delivery, risk management, and contract strategy.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence executive decision-making and align preconstruction with enterprise objectives.
  • Experience with alternative delivery methods and complex negotiated pursuits.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
