Supervisor: Director of Youth Ministries
Employment Status: Full-Time, exempt
Starting Annual Salary: $50,000 (Dependent on experience and education level)
About the Church:
Oak Grove UMC is a large membership church located in Decatur, Georgia. We are a welcoming neighborhood United Methodist Church. Oak Grove’s vision is to build inclusive, life-changing communities and experience transformation in Jesus Christ. In order to do this OGUMC will: CONNECT with each other, GROW in faith, and LIVE our faith. We value intergenerational ministry. We average 850 in our weekly attendance.
We have over 100 active participants in our youth programs, and are actively growing in numbers.
- Collaborate with the Director of Youth Ministry to:
- Create engaging youth programs to build community and a sense of belonging among young people
- Engage young people in missional opportunities
- Enhance our social media presence
- Strengthen our volunteer recruiting structure
- Presence will be expected:
- Sunday Nights during Youth Fellowship
- Sunday Morning service attendance and youth Sunday School
- Wednesday evening Midweek Programming
- Other events as deemed necessary
- Valuing inclusive atmospheres for all students
- Building a strong culture of belonging
- Partnering with community organizations
- An active and growing personal faith life
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- An understanding of United Methodist theology
- Experience working or volunteering with 12–18-year-olds
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relatable field
- Experience working in church programmatic ministries
