Position: GA Pre-K Lead Teacher 2026-2027

About This Role

The Georgia Pre-K Lead Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing a high-quality early childhood education program in alignment with Bright from the Start (DECAL) standards. This role involves creating a structured, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment that supports the academic, social, and emotional growth of four-year-old children.

The Lead Teacher develops and delivers lesson plans, manages daily classroom operations, and assesses student progress. They also ensure compliance with all Georgia Pre-K regulations, maintain accurate documentation, and foster a positive classroom culture. Working collaboratively with the Assistant Teacher and communicating effectively with families and staff are essential components of this role.

What You'll Do

Key Responsibilities:

Georgia Pre-K Lead Teacher
  • Plan and implement a high-quality instructional program aligned with Bright from the Start (DECAL) Georgia Pre-K standards
  • Manage daily classroom operations and supervise a group of children in a safe, structured, and engaging environment
  • Establish and maintain a healthy, nurturing classroom that supports children’s learning and development
  • Implement approved lesson plans and daily schedules in alignment with program curriculum and guidelines
  • Conduct ongoing observations and assessments of each child’s developmental progress using approved tools (e.g., Work Sampling System)
  • Support children’s social and emotional development through positive guidance and developmentally appropriate practices
  • Maintain a well-organized, attractive classroom environment that encourages exploration, independence, and creativity
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and program regulations related to health, safety, and early childhood education
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including attendance, assessments, and required reporting
  • Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress, classroom activities, and program expectations
  • Work collaboratively with the Assistant Teacher to support classroom instruction and daily routines
  • Provide clear expectations for behavior and use positive reinforcement to guide children’s actions
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the classroom, shared spaces, and playground areas
  • Participate in required staff meetings, professional development, and school functions
  • Maintain professionalism in appearance, conduct, and adherence to the Chroma Early Learning Academy Employee Handbook
  • Demonstrate knowledge of early childhood development, including the social, emotional, and creative needs of young children
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, or an approved equivalent that meets Bright from the Start (DECAL) requirements
  • Must meet all state and program requirements, including background check and credential verification
  • Valid or eligible for a Georgia Pre-K Lead Teacher credential as defined by DECAL
  • Demonstrated knowledge of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practices for four-year-old children
  • Experience working in an early childhood or preschool setting preferred
  • Strong classroom management, organizational, and lesson planning skills
  • Ability to conduct ongoing child assessments and maintain accurate documentation (e.g., Work Sampling System)
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and staff
  • Knowledge of and ability to maintain compliance with all local, state, and program regulations, including health and safety standards
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a teaching team
  • Professional demeanor, reliability, and consistent attendance
