The Team Leader for Ultrasound supervises the activities for the US department ensuring that all work is done in accordance with departmental protocol. The Team Leader coordinates patient activity, QA of US exams and staff schedules, flexing staff when needed. The Team Leader performs counseling and verbal warnings of personnel with prior input from the Manager. Maintains open communication and is available to component organizations and to practitioner sites for consultation.
Maintains open communication with ED and other Imaging and hospital departments. In the Vascular Lab, the Team Leader is responsible for the supervision of personnel in accordance with ACR standards. Ensures that all licenses and required vascular CME's are kept current with both technical and medical personnel and that exams and QA/QC records are kept in accordance with ACR standards.
Assists with the required reaccreditation of the US governing bodies.
Bachelors of Science - Required
Graduate of an ACR accredited Ultrasound Program
Experience2-3 Years Diagnostic and Vascular US. Prior experience with the accreditation process - Required
Ability to lead and instruct others in the field of ultrasonographer. Leader in technology assessment, guidance and interpretation of new rules and regulations as well as assisting radiologists with protocol development.
License & CertificationProfessional Certification - Required
RDMS, RVT
Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required
Core Job Functions- Knowledgeable of JC, OSHA, and ACR guidelines concerning the care of the patient. Demonstrates knowledge of proper aseptic technique, Universal Precautions, Time/Out, Read back/Verify and ALARA. Demonstrates knowledge of patients rights and use of required patient identification.
- Routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment is performed in accordance with manufacturer recommendation and department policy. Work orders involving equipment are entered promptly into the system. Staff education regarding care and operation of equipment is conducted annually and as needed.
- Maintains national certification/registry. Is competent in the use of all departmental equipment and is able to perform all procedures effectively.
- Assists with departmental accreditations.
- Adequate personnel are scheduled to perform anticipated workload. Tests are performed in accordance with departmental policy and guidelines. Adjustments to staffing and equipment allocation are made as needed to meet the patient needs.
- Interprets requests and performs exams in accordance with approved protocols. Communicates with radiologists and physicians about appropriateness of exams when in question. Maintains aseptic/sterile environment during invasive procedures and otherwise.
- Assess staff learning needs. Coordinate learning opportunities. Evaluate staff progress.
