Radiation Therapist

Role: The Staff Radiation Therapist applies ionizing radiation to patients in accordance with physician prescriptions within the Radiation Oncology Department. They operate radiation equipment safely and perform complex technical procedures, ensuring precise treatment delivery.

• Deliver consistent, accurate therapy to designated treatment areas.
• Assess patients, perform procedures, and provide age-appropriate care for adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
• Document treatments accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Assist colleagues and perform additional tasks as needed.
• Recognize limitations, seek assistance, and report adverse reactions promptly.
• Educate patients and families on side effects and treatment aids.
• Ensure correct patient setup, simulate treatments, and schedule patients effectively.
• Follow safety protocols, wear radiation badges, and practice universal precautions.
• Participate in quality control, on-call rotations, and serve as a clinical instructor for students.

• Associates degree or related accredited program.
• ARRT-T Radiation Therapy certification and BLS certification required upon hire.
• Minimum two years of radiation therapy experience preferred.
• Ability to treat and simulate patients confidently.
