Description
You will be the Low Observable Coater - Specialty Coatings, responsible for applying special technology coatings to produce aircraft, parts, and assemblies with low-observable characteristics.
What You Will Be DoingAs the Low Observable Coater, you will read and interpret laboratory, engineering, and manufacturing process specifications and plan the sequence of operations for finish applications on low-observable aircraft, parts, assemblies, and test articles.
Responsibilities- Set up and operate robotic coating application equipment, including loading programs, initializing robots, and positioning parts/assemblies to be finished.
- Operate robotic coating application systems, recognize problems, and initiate corrective action as required.
- Set up and operate manual application equipment to apply both special technology and traditional coatings when assigned.
- Perform preliminary process preparations such as removing/reinstalling panels and assemblies, cleaning, and hand or machine surface finishing when assigned.
- Mix coatings to specified proportions, verifying physical properties of the mix such as viscosity and temperature as required.
- Two years of similar outside experience with special technology coatings, including application, hand and/or machine finishing of aircraft components, parts, and fine details such as contours and tapers.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Secret clearance required; candidates may start with an approved interim clearance.
- Basic computer skills required to operate computer‑controlled paint robots.
- Documented evidence of ability to read and interpret complex assembly and installation blueprints.
- Previous coatings experience.
- Five years experience as a Low Observable Coater.
- Previous F‑35 or F‑22 coatings experience.
This position requires a government security clearance; you must be a U.S. citizen for consideration.
