Description:

The RN Clinical Nurse Emergency Department is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team.
They ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized, high-quality, safe patient care.
Practice is governed by nurse managers and other leaders.
Support is provided through a shared governance model.
The framework for practice is guided by a professional practice model and evidence-based practice.
It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses are licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing.
Responsibilities include performing the Nursing Process which encompasses assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Clinical care is delivered using evidence-based practices and analytical thinking.
Care is individualized, and the delivery is coordinated through effective partnerships, recognizing caring as central to optimal patient outcomes.
Patient-centered care is provided that reflects population-specific characteristics.
There is a commitment to partner with patients and significant others using appropriate communication methods.
Clinical practice follows current standards.
Delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care are coordinated.
Participation in respectful, inclusive communication and collaboration with team members is expected.
Engagement in performance improvement and support of research is vital.
Participation in the development of protocols and procedures is encouraged to achieve best practice outcomes.
Participation in professional competency assessment and ongoing education is required.
Serving as a preceptor or mentor for other professional nurses is needed to ensure a qualified workforce.
Evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement are promoted in nursing.
Participation in data collection and posing clinical questions for improved practice is essential.
Complying with all organizational policies, procedures, and clinical competencies is required.
Participation in initiatives aimed at optimizing the use of resources is a responsibility of the RN Clinical Nurse.
Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
