Job Summary

Part time; 7 p‑7 a on a 28‑bed post‑surgical unit, Magnet Designated (with Distinction). Paulding campus – Sign on Bonus eligible. New graduates up to 6 months RN’s are encouraged to apply for available RN Residency positions.

The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized, high‑quality, safe patient care. Clinical work is administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders and supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The framework for practice is steered by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model and evidence‑based practice and research.

All RN Clinical Nurses are licensed, knowledgeable and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards of the American Nurses Association.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions Exemplary Practice and Outcomes
  • Perform the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation and evaluation) using evidence‑based practice and analytical/critical thinking to ensure individualized care, coordinated through effective partnerships.
  • Provide relationship‑based, patient‑centered care that reflects population‑specific characteristics (age, gender, disease, etc.) and cultural diversity.
  • Partner with patients and significant others using appropriate methods (bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds, just‑in‑time and planned patient teaching) to keep them updated and to focus care plans on patient goals.
  • Practice in accordance with current clinical practice standards.
Teamwork and Collaboration
  • Coordinate the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care, promoting a professional care delivery model and inclusive interdisciplinary communication (interdisciplinary rounds, case review, etc.).
  • Demonstrate teamwork and collaboration by acting responsibly, fiscally and in a manner that promotes recruitment and retention of the entire healthcare team.
  • Participate and support performance improvement, research utilization and shared governance at all system levels.
Professional Development and Initiative
  • Complete all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and mandatory education, including population‑specific training.
  • Serve as a preceptor and/or mentor for other professional nurses, staff or students across disciplines.
  • Promote evidence‑based practice, nursing research and performance improvement, including value analysis and data collection to address clinical questions.
Resources and Support
  • Plan for patient care across the continuum while delivering direct care.
  • Develop protocols and procedures when required or self‑initiated in collaboration with care managers and the healthcare team to achieve best‑practice outcomes.
  • Support efficient and effective use of human and material resources.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned and comply with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work and the code of conduct.
Education and Licensure Requirements
  • Minimum Education:

    Associate’s in Nursing, Diploma (Nurse), or Bachelor’s in Nursing (preferred).
  • Licensure: RN – Regular State or RN‑COMPACT – Multi‑state Compact.
  • Certifications (required upon hire unless specified): BLS or ARC‑BLS or BLS‑I.
  • Minimum Experience:

    2 years direct patient‑care nursing experience.
Required Skills
  • Proficient in reading, writing and speaking English; basic computer and technology competency.
  • Strong interpersonal, collaborative and customer‑service skills.
  • Ability to function in a fast‑paced environment and respond to emergencies with composure and respect.
  • Excellent time‑management, critical‑thinking and evidence‑based nursing practice.
