Job Summary

Part‑time Night Shift, 24 hours per week, 28‑bed Acute Care Med‑Surg unit with Telemetry – focus on Cardiac, Renal, and Wound care. Sign‑on bonus eligible.

Role Description

The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers who provide individualized, high‑quality, safe patient care. The role is supported by Nurse Managers, the Wellstar Shared Governance Model, and the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, with an emphasis on evidence‑based practice and research.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions Exemplary Practice and Outcomes
  • A. Performs the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) using evidence‑based practice and critical thinking to individualize care.
  • B. Provides relationship‑based, patient‑centered care that considers population‑specific characteristics and cultural diversity.
  • C. Partners with patients and significant others through appropriate communication methods, including bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds, and patient teaching.
  • D. Adheres to current clinical practice standards.
Teamwork and Collaboration
  • A. Coordinates delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care and promotes respect, inclusivity, and timely documentation.
  • B. Demonstrates teamwork and fiscal responsibility, supporting recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members.
  • C. Participates in performance improvement, research utilization, and shared governance at all system levels.
Professional Development and Initiative
  • A. Completes all initial and ongoing competency assessments, mandatory education, and population‑specific education.
  • B. Serves as preceptor or mentor to professional nurses, staff, or students, fostering a qualified future workforce.
Evidence‑Based Practice and Research
  • A. Promotes evidence‑based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement, including value analysis and data collection.
  • B. Upholds all relevant policies, procedures, and clinical competencies, including legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements (e.g., TJC Patient Safety Goals).
  • C. Consults experts and resources to address clinical questions.
Resources and Support
  • A. Proactively plans patient care across the continuum during direct care.
  • B. Assists in developing protocols and procedures to achieve best practice outcomes.
  • C. Supports efficient use of human and material resources.
  • D. Performs additional duties as assigned and complies with all Wellstar Health System policies and code of conduct.
Required

Minimum Education
  • Associates Nursing or Diploma (RN)
  • Bachelor’s Nursing – Preferred
Required Minimum Licenses and Certifications
  • RN – Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN‑COMPACT – RN Multi‑state Compact
  • BLS – Basic Life Support or ARC‑BLS – American Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS‑I – Basic Life Support Instructor
  • Additional certifications required upon hire (e.g., BLS‑I, CT‑Focus, ACLS).
Required Minimum Experience

Minimum 5 years RN experience; direct patient care experience preferred.

Required Minimum Skills
  • Clear written and verbal English communication.
  • Proficiency with technology to support clinical care and basic computer skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills with a customer‑service orientation.
  • Ability to function in a fast‑paced environment and respond to emergencies decisively and respectfully.
  • Excellent time‑management and critical‑thinking abilities.
  • Evidence‑based nursing practice and analytical skills.
