Overview

The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers who ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized, high‑quality, safe patient care. The role is administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders and supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. RN competencies are derived from the Wellstar Professional Practice Model and evidence‑based practice and research.

Responsibilities
  • Exemplary Practice and Outcomes (55%)
    • Perform the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation) using evidence‑based practice and critical thinking.
    • Provide relationship‑based, patient‑centered care that is consistent with population‑specific characteristics and cultural diversity.
    • Partner with the patient and significant others using appropriate methods (bedside shift report, interdisciplinary rounds, patient teaching, etc.).
    • Practice current clinical standards.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration (25%)
    • Coordinate delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care and promote a respectful, inclusive clinical environment.
    • Demonstrate fiscal responsibility and support recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members.
    • Participate in performance improvement, research utilization, and shared governance activities at all levels.
  • Professional Development and Initiative (10%)
    • Complete all initial and ongoing competency assessments, mandatory education, and population‑specific education.
    • Serve as a preceptor or mentor for other professional nurses, staff, and students.
  • Evidence‑Based Practice and Research (5%)
    • Promote evidence‑based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement.
    • Uphold system policies, procedures, and clinical competencies, including TJC Patient Safety Goals.
    • Participate in data collection and use appropriate resources to address clinical questions.
  • Resources and Support (5%)
    • Plan for patient care across the continuum during direct patient care.
    • Develop protocols and procedures to improve practice outcomes.
    • Support efficient use of human and material resources.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year relevant, recent, acute care clinical nursing experience.
  • RN – Registered Nurse (Single) or RN‑COMPACT (Multi‑state)
  • BLS – Basic Life Support.
  • BLS‑I – Basic Life Support – Instructor (optional).
