Job Summary:
The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers who ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders and is supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model.
Core Responsibilities and
Essential Functions:
- Exemplary Practice and Outcomes
- A. Performs the Nursing Process (assessment; diagnosis; identification of outcomes; planning; implementation and evaluation) using evidence based practice, analytical/critical thinking and ensuring care is individualized; coordinating care through effective partnerships.
- B. Provides relationship-based patient centered care consistent with population specific characteristics, adapting service delivery to reflect cultural diversity.
- C. Always partners with the patient and significant others using appropriate methods for setting and purpose.
- D. Practices using current clinical practice standards.
- Teamwork and Collaboration
- A. Coordinates delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care, including interdisciplinary communication methods and timely documentation.
- B. Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration in a fiscally responsible manner.
- C. Participates and supports performance improvement, research and shared governance.
- Professional Development and Initiative
- A. Completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessment, mandatory education, population specific education.
- B. Serves as a preceptor/mentor for other professional nurses and staff.
- Evidence Based Practice and Research
- A. Promotes evidence based practice, nursing research and performance improvement.
- B. Upholds all system policies, procedures and clinical competencies, ensuring compliance with TJC Patient Safety Goals and Wellstar Health Systems safety absolutes.
- C. Participates in data collection, poses relevant clinical questions, consults experts and uses evidence.
- Resources and Support
- A. Proactively plans for the care of patients across the continuum while providing direct patient care.
- B. Participates in development of protocols and procedures to achieve best practice outcomes.
- C. Supports efficient use of human and material resources.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Required Minimum Education:
- Associates Nursing or Diploma (Nurse) Nursing;
Bachelors Nursing – Preferred.
Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):
- RN – Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN-COMPACT – Multi-state Compact.
- BLS – Basic Life Support, or ARC-BLS – American Red Cross Basic Life Support, or BLS-I – Basic Life Support Instructor.
Required
Minimum Experience:
Minimum 2 years direct patient care nursing experience.
