Job Overview

Night shift nursing position located at Kennestone Hospital, United States of America.

Responsibilities
  • Performs the Nursing Process: assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation; utilizes evidence‑based practice and analytical/critical thinking.
  • Ensures individualized care and coordinates care through effective partnerships, recognizing that caring is central to achieving optimal patient outcomes.
  • Provides relationship‑based, patient‑centered care consistent with population‑specific characteristics (e.g., age, gender, disease) and adapts service delivery to reflect cultural diversity.
  • Partners with patients and significant others using appropriate methods (bedside shift report, interdisciplinary rounds, just‑in‑time and planned patient teaching) and keeps them updated, focusing on the patient’s goals.
  • Practices using current clinical practice standards.
  • Coordinates delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care, promoting the professional care delivery model.
  • Facilitates diverse and inclusive interdisciplinary communication methods (interdisciplinary rounds, case review, etc.) and completes timely documentation.
  • Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner that supports recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members.
  • Participates and supports performance improvement, inclusive of all stakeholders, research, and research utilization, including initiating and/or leading activities to promote safe, quality patient care.
  • Completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and required mandatory education, including population‑specific education.
  • Serves as a preceptor and/or mentor for professional nurses, staff, or students across all disciplines to model nursing practice and create a healthy work environment.
  • Promotes evidence‑based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement, including participation in value analysis to evaluate patient‑care products.
  • Upholds all health‑care system/organizational policies, procedures, and clinical competencies, including legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements, ensuring compliance with TJC Patient Safety Goals and Well Star Health Systems safety absolutes.
  • Participates in data collection, poses relevant clinical questions to advanced evidence‑based practice, and consults experts to address practice questions.
  • Proactively plans for patient care across the continuum during direct patient care activities.
  • Participates in development of protocols and procedures to achieve best practice outcomes (e.g., reduction in readmission rates, avoidable days, adverse events).
  • Supports efficient and effective use of human and material resources.
Qualifications
  • Education:
    • Graduate of an accredited/approved school of nursing.
    • Bachelor's Degree (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Licensing & Certification:
    • Registered Nurse (Reg Nurse – Single State).
    • Registered Nurse – Multi‑state Compact.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) – Instructor.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) – Provisional.
  • Required Skills:
    • Knowledge of professional nursing theory, regulations, and practices.
    • Proficient assessment, examination, and treatment techniques.
    • Problem identification and solution recommendation.
    • Record‑keeping for medication or treatment.
    • Timely and efficient performance of departmental duties.
    • Effective communication with patients, medical staff, and the public.
    • Calm and competent emergency response.
    • Clear written and oral communication.
    • Judgment in patient and staff interactions.
    • Teaching skills at all patient levels.
    • Ability to process large volumes of patient information accurately and timely.
    • Basic understanding of cardiac anatomy, conditions, and treatment modalities.
